Diversity

It is a goal of WTVI to promote diversity in governance, employment, and programming. To that end, the Executive Director met with officials of the college on August 15, 2012 to review and discuss diversity goals and practices, implemented a formal diversity training program for management and staff on August 21, 2012, and posts its employment statistics and actions undertaken on WTVI website. In addition, the station has included diverse individuals in two internships and one work-study program over the past year providing meaningful professional-level experiences and furthering public broadcasting’s commitment to education.

As of August, 2012 the station’s diversity profile is as follows:

Trustees: 27% minority, 45% female

Full Time Employees: 18% minority, 20% female

It is the station’s goal to increase its minority employment to 20% and female employment to 29% within the next fiscal year.

The annual FCC report is as follows:

Annual EEO Public File Report
July 2, 2012 – July 21, 2012

Central Piedmont Community College acquired the license for Station WTVI on July 2, 2012 and has not had occasion since then to hire any full-time employees. The College has a comprehensive equal employment opportunity program for the station and will routinely seek referrals from community groups and other diverse sources of qualified candidates for future openings. Because of its short tenure as licensee, the College has not yet had an opportunity to conduct any longer-term recruitment initiatives.
