RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR DANCEATHON

 

  1. The WTVI Danceathon is a LIVE television broadcast which means when cameras are rolling, you will be live on camera to hundreds of thousands of homes. 

 

  1. To participate in the Danceathon, there is a $250 registration fee for all corporate participants.  This must be paid upon registration. Registration fee can also be paid via pre-paid pledges for the WTVI Danceathon ONLY. Registration fee is non-refundable. Your registration fee may be considered a tax-deductible donation to WTVI. Please consult your tax advisor. All dance participant individuals can register for FREE.

 

  1. You may wear whatever you wish for the Danceathon; however, extremely tight or short skirts, blouses or dresses are unacceptable. Please bring several outfits if you have any doubt in how appropriate your clothing may be.  WTVI reserves the right to judge the appropriateness of your clothing prior to the rehearsal.  If we judge your clothing inappropriate, you must wear an alternate outfit.  You may wear your company or dance facility t-shirt or logo if it is your sponsor. Clothing with other logos and/or writing will not be accepted. Dancers are not allowed to wear watches or have other time-keeping devices on them, including cell phones.

 

  1. To qualify for prizes, a registered couple must dance for a minimum of 42 minutes per hour for 10 hours.  You will have at least two breaks lasting between 8 and 18 minutes per hour.  During those breaks you may take restroom breaks, eat, smoke (outside) or simply rest.  You may not leave the WTVI complex during the Danceathon.  If you do so, you will be subject to elimination. WTVI will provide an official time keeper and schedule for dancing and breaks within each hour.

 

  1. On March 6, 2010 – the day of the Danceathon – you and your partner are required to arrive at the studios of WTVI no later than 8:15AM.  This will give you time to fill out releases and other paperwork, change clothes or have clothing approved, rehearse and be ready for the show to go LIVE at exactly 10AM.

 

  1. All participants are required to sign all WTVI paperwork and legal releases prior to their participation in the Danceathon.  All forms and releases will be posted on our website for your perusal, so you may review these prior to your participation.

 

  1. Prizes – The grand prize ($1,000 cash prize and other gifts TBD) will be awarded to the couple who dances the entire 10 hours AND raises the most money in pledges before and/or during the Danceathon. The second and third prizes will be awarded to the couples who dance the entire 10 hours and raise the next to the most money in pledges respectively. Other prizes and gifts will be given hourly to couples who viewers vote and pledge as the cutest, the fanciest footwork, the best dressed, etc.  Those awards will be given hourly.  The grand prize and prizes for second and third will be announced at approximately 7:45PM, on or about the end of the Danceathon live broadcast.

 

  1. The Danceathon will be PART of the programming on WTVI on March 6, 2010 from 10AM until 8PM.  The Danceathon will be the LIVE portion of the breaks between program segments.  The taped portion of the programming will be previously recorded specials including, but not limited to:  Magic Moments, Ed Sullivan Rock and Roll and Rock Rhythm and Doo Wop.

 

  1. WTVI is not responsible for:  wardrobe, costumes, makeup or hair styling.

 

  1. WTVI is responsible for: food, snacks, and beverages throughout the event, and the registration number to wear during the event.  You must wear your assigned number at all times during the event.  You may not exchange numbers with any other couples. 

 

  1. WTVI will have medical support and/or assistance on site in case of an emergency or if you need any medical assistance.  WTVI is not responsible for treating or paying for any injuries sustained during the event. By registering for this event, each participant acknowledges he/she is healthy enough to participate in an endurance contest that requires constant motion for 10 hours.

 

  1. Participants may be interviewed live or comments taped any time you are at WTVI for the Danceathon.  This may be prior to the Live event as you enter the building, during preparation for the event or during the Live event.   These comments and/or interviews may be recorded, edited and aired any time during the Danceathon and/or promoting future Danceathons or as deemed usable by WTVI for on-air or web purposes.

 

  1. Judges at WTVI have determined what constitutes Òdancing.Ó  Dancing couples must remain on the dance floor throughout all required dancing segments (42 minutes per hour), continually moving, be within at least 2 feet of your partner and have the lower part of your bodies moving; i.e. feet, ankles, knees, hips, thighs.

 

  1. Dance couples may have one support person in the studio during the entire event. Additional support and family may watch from other locations within WTVI, but will not be permitted in the studio.   

 

  1. WTVI is not responsible for the loss, theft, or damage of any items brought to the event. We strongly discourage bringing any valuables.

 

  1. We strongly discourage driving yourself to this event.  Please try to find a friend of family member to provide transportation to and from WTVI on March 6.

 

  1. Possession or consumption of alcohol and illegal substances is not permitted. You will be removed from the event. This includes consumption prior to event.

 

  1. Failure to comply with the dancing guidelines may result in removal from the event.
