Early Literacy Resources & Free Workshops
Raising Readers (formerly Ready to Learn) is PBS’s national initiative to ensure that all children start kindergarten with strong early literacy skills. Through Raising Readers, WTVI provides local parents, teachers and childcare providers with workshops, children’s books, curriculum materials and resources aligned with great PBS TV programs like Martha Speaks and Sesame Street. all specially developed to support children’s literacy development. PreK-12 Digital Classroom Resources & Professional Development
PBS Learning Media is an enormous, free online collection of digital resources–video and audio clips, images, interactives and articles–for English Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, Math and the Arts. Many resources have been translated into Spanish. Educators can search by subject, resource type, grade level, keyword and relevant Common Core standards; they can also create a free account to collect their favorite resources, develop quizzes, personalize student learning, make online interactive assignments, and participate in free online professional development. A special student portal lets students access and complete online assignments, storyboard their own digital creations and collect material for their own projects. Best of all, the resources have been reviewed to ensure they meet PBS’s high standards for quality.
