Masterpiece: Mystery! Endeavour, Season 2

Four months after DC Endeavour Morse’s brush with death, he returns to duty with Oxford City Police and is reunited with DI Fred Thursday. Morse’s first case involves a John Doe who plummets to his death in what appears to be a routine suicide. When Morse discovers the man’s mysterious final message, he begins to consider seemingly unrelated cases, causing Thursday to worry that Morse’s wounds may have been more in mind than body.

Shaun Evans (“The Take,” “The Virgin Queen”) returns for a second season as the young rookie, DC Endeavour Morse, before he acquired his signature red Jaguar but with his deductive powers already running in high gear.

In the spring of 1966, after returning from sick leave for several months at County Police’s Witney Station under D.I. Church, Morse investigates a suspicious suicide during an Oxford parade, a missing girl from Oxfordshire, and the theft of historical artifacts from a college.

In July 1966 at the almost empty, save for some schoolgirls, Museum of Natural History, Adrian Weiss, a specialist in heraldry and genealogy, is murdered. The similar murder of a 12-year-old girl at her boarding school leads Morse to delve into a 100-year-old murder mystery involving a wealthy family with connections to India and an inheritance.

In the period before Remembrance Sunday, a housewife found strangled with a silk stocking in her own home becomes the third such death in Oxford in a month. All the women are married, alone and their wedding rings missing.

Endeavour Neverland 
April 14 at 10:30 p.m.

A boy with a brutal father is reported missing from his home. The body of a journalist is found on a railway line and within days an escaped convict, with only a month of his sentence remaining, is found dead.
