America's Awesome Kids
To celebrate America’s semi quincentennial, GBH Kids is partnering with PBS Charlotte and other PBS stations across the United States to produce 25 live action shorts and associated educational outreach kits called America's Awesome Kids. These short videos will celebrate what’s awesome about this great country and the next generation of citizens who will help lead the way. GBH Kids and selected local stations, working with GBH Education and our National Audience Development and Station Services Group, will find real kids – one in 25 different states – to feature in a 3- to 5-minute short video. This series will introduce audiences to a wide range of kids and their unique geographies, customs, interests, skills, and experiences. Targeting kids ages 4 to 8, America’s Awesome Kids will join the catalogue of PBS KIDS content celebrating America’s 250th anniversary and will help foster important civics knowledge and skills as well as love of country.
WE ARE LOOKING TO FIND A KID TO FEATURE WHO IS BETWEEN THE AGES OF 7-11 IN THE CHARLOTTE, NC AREA WHO WANTS TO GIVE US A GLIMPSE INTO WHAT MAKES THEM – AND WHERE THEY LIVE – UNIQUE!
It could be a kid who is doing something amazing to help others in his/her community, a kid who has a unique talent, hobby or skill, or a kid who wants to share more about a cultural tradition they have with their family. (Or all of the above!) There really is no one type of story we’re looking for – we just want to meet awesome kids!
